From the Airport

Velana International Airport sits on the next island, joined to Hulhumalé by road.

Airport transfer
Book direct and we pick you up at arrivals for free. It is about 10 minutes to the door. Send us your flight number.
Taxi
Taxis wait outside arrivals, day and night. Ask for Hulhumalé Beach Road. Carry some cash — cards are not always accepted.
Airport bus
Public buses run often between the airport and Hulhumalé, from early morning to late night. They are cheap, with room for luggage.
From Malé
Cross the Sinamalé Bridge by taxi or bus. Allow 25–30 minutes, longer at rush hour.

The Beach

We would rather you know now than be surprised later.

Hulhumalé beach is a public, local beach. Families from the island use it every day, especially at sunset.
The Maldives is a Muslim country. On the local beach, swim in shorts and a T-shirt or similar. Bikinis are for resort islands and sandbanks.
There is no alcohol on Hulhumalé. Resort day trips can include it — we can arrange one.
The water is calm most of the year. Watch for currents near the breakwater and swim where others swim.

Nearby

Cafés and restaurants: A strip of cafés lines the beachfront, two minutes away. Breakfast, fresh juice, grilled fish, late coffee.
Groceries: Supermarkets and a bakery within a short walk. Your kitchen is ready for them.
Central Park: Hulhumalé Central Park is good for an evening walk or a run in the cool air.
ATMs and pharmacy: Banks, ATMs and a pharmacy are all within walking distance.
